Stony Point
Christian Church offers Sunday School classes for adults,
young people and children at 10:00 A.M. on Sunday mornings. At 11:00 A.M., Morning Worship service begins. The service is a blend of traditional and contemporary elements, with praise hymns, projected lyrics and instrumental accompaniment (piano, organ and guitar). Children under 12 are invited to attend Junior Church, which features two separate venues -- one for pre-schoolers to 1st Graders and one for older kids from 2nd Grade to 6th Grade. A key element to every worship service at Stony Point is weekly communion service, which all baptized Christians are invited to share. The Sunday sermon is Scripture-based and entirely relevant to Christian life in today's world. A hymn of invitation concludes each service and anyone who has not been baptized or who wishes to move their membership to Stony Point Christian Church is encouraged to come forward at that time. Though our current sanctuary was originally constructed in 1858, it has been completely modernized by the generations that have loved and enjoyed this old church. The interior was reversed in the late 1950s (about the time we got electricity!). Central heat and air was added in the years that followed.
In addition to old-fashioned country church dinners, we use this space for adult Sunday School class, for concerts, for wedding receptions, for children's worship services and much, much more. Today, we have a high-tech, multi-mike sound system, digital projector, and full audio-video services for the enjoyment of the congregation. Stony Point may be the oldest Protestant Church in the state of Indiana. Our building may be one of the oldest around. But we are not standing still! We're growing and building every week. We hope you'll come and be a part of the great things that are happening at Stony Point Christian Church . . . where we are a going Church for a coming Christ! |
